Bodega Barro Viejo

Towards the Desert

Bodega Barro Viejo

per person

Barro Viejo began more than 30 years ago with the reconstruction of the old house of the former Hacienda de La Soledad (now the Guest House), the planting of the first varieties of the vineyard and the construction of the winery for the process. We are very proud of the effort, time and work our amazing team has invested to give life to the entire Barro Viejo project, achieving high quality labels (Herencia & 5 Cielos), as well as making the experience of spending a few days at the Hacienda surrounded by the nature of the desert from Parras Coahuila available to our guests.

We currently have these Varieties in our Vineyards; Mouvedre, Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Merlot and Syrah.

Paleontological Landmark

Did you know?

80 million years ago, Edmontonia rugosidens roamed these lands. Characterized by its armored body, covered in a shell of bone plates arranged in line that protected it and managed to deter predators such as Tyranosaurus rex. This formidable dinosaur measured up to 6.6m long and 2m in height, weighing up to 3 tons.

Today, Bodega Barro Viejo proudly emerges from the desert plains, a winery founded in the former hacienda “La Soledad”, a faithful witness of the Mexican Revolution. Here, in this valley of Parras, an area that seems arid, lies fertile soil that gives the vine full development to produce excellent wine.

“Vinos & Dinos” una ruta vitivinícola y paleontológica, que nace gracias al trabajo en equipo entre la sociedad y el gobierno, para ofrecerle a nuestros visitantes una experiencia turística única en México.
