Viñedos Don Leo
Don Leo started its first plantation in 2000 with a one hectare production, which has been multiplying through hard work and effort over the years. It has the most modern facilities and the collaboration of winemaker Francisco Rodríguez, who has worked at Casa Madero since 1978. Don Leo was founded in 2000 and the name is a tribute to the German Leo Mendel, patriarch of the family. David Mendel, his grandson, highlights the height of the vineyard as a quality factor, it is positioned as one of the highest vineyards in the world, located in “Valle del Tunal”, municipality of Parras, at a height of 2,100 meters above sea level, surrounded by mountains, which provides more hours of cold during the ripening season. This allows for a greater aromatic concentration and a better definition of varietal tastes.
Due to its particular geographical location and the facts that it is produced by the hand of the best enologist, Mr. Francisco Rodríguez, our wines have an unmatched quality, giving particular characteristics to each of the different strains that are produced here, for example:
Red Wines; Merlot, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Malbec and Zinfandel. White Wines; Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Chardonnay.
What makes this wine exceptional is the care given to the plant, aiming to be an ORGANIC product. The barrels used by Don Leo are French and American oak. All of this brought together in each of our bottles, crafted by the unique touch and the best blends of our enologist, recognized worldwide as the most awarded winemaker in Mexico.
It was the most dangerous dinosaur of all time. Its name means “king tyrant lizard”. Fearsome for its sharp and imposing teeth and its large size that ranged from 12 to 15 meters in height.
It has been estimated that it weighed 5 to 7 tons. Some studies have recognized it as a skilled hunter, others as a scavenger. Its skeleton was made up of 380 bones.
This species mainly inhabited the North American plains from Northern Mexico to Canada.
In the valley of Tunal, more than 2,100 meters above sea level, Viñedos Don Leo houses the T-rex and makes it guardian of the lands where the richness of the soil and its particular climate allow to produce a strong vine, which gives the wines a unique character.
